Cloisters
Well-known member
The Brothers of the Christian Schools – the LaSallians – were founded in France by St. John Baptist de La Salle. His methods of education are still in use today – students being in grades; the vernacular used for instruction; teacher’s schools (“normal schools”, now colleges of education at universities), just to name a few. He has been made the patron of teachers by the church. His feast is this Saturday, April 7.
As a side note, many of the state normal schools became state universities when the teacher’s colleges were integrated with universities.
The FSCs are dedicating 2019 to vocations, which will begin with Advent 2018:
Blessings,
Mrs Cloisters OP
