Weird watching hockey in August. 🥅 🏒 But I’m glad they’re back, maybe even more glad than having baseball back. The NHL had completed most of their scheduled regular season when corona hit, and it would have been a shame to not be able to crown a champion.

Penguins 🐧 lost last night in overtime. But I can’t be mad at the Canadiens player who scored the winning goal. Jeff Petry is the son of a Detroit Tiger 🐅, Dan Petry, who was a star pitcher for the 1984 World Series-winning team.
 
Well, my Predators got eliminated in the Qualifiers round. Now I have to decide whether to cheer for the Coyotes (the team that beat the Predators) for the Western Conference championship or pick someone else.

I’m a huge Avalanche fan and have to get back into fan mode! Our first game is Wednesday 3:30 in the afternoon Mountain time! Need to get my cowbells out!
 
Who would have guessed before the qualifiers that BOTH #12 seeds would advance.

With the Penguins out, I’m leaning towards supporting the Canadiens, because of Jeff Petry. A Canadian team hasn’t raised the Cup since Montreal did it in 1993. :canada:

I might go for Dallas in the Western Conference; one of my hockey-watching friends on FB is a big Stars fan.

Columbus and Tampa Bay just ended their second overtime period–still tied.
at 6:50 PM CDT: end of the third overtime period–STILL tied!
Meanwhile, out west, Calgary and Dallas are near the end of the third period with Calgary 3 Dallas 2. And Calgary just won three to two.

My dear Leafs are out of it, so I want the Golden Knights to win. They’re my second favourite team.

I always feel so bad for Leafs fans. Even when their team is pretty good, they never make it! But they have some of the most loyal fans in a sport known for loyal fans!

I’m an Avs fan but I always hope the Leafs will make it to the final four at the least! You have my sympathy.
 
I haven’t watched a hockey game since 1994. Shameful for a Canadian. lol
