I used to like 24 but after thinking about it as a Catholic I can no longer be a fan. It is constantly pulling heart strings to justify the means taken to get results. The ends do not justify the means.

I never saw this show. I do not watch Fox shows except for “House” and “AI.” I do see previews for the show though and I do not like it. When I watch “House” it is recorded so I fast forward all the commercials. And when I watch “AI” I change the channel during commercials, to “Mother Angelica Live” on Tuesdays and “EWTN Live” on Wednesdays. 😉

The 6th commandment says “thou shalt not murder”, often mis-translated as “thou shalt not kill”, which means something completely different. A perfect example of a liberal retard who thinks like you, is the father of the boy who ends up giving the controlling device to fayed, who later detonates the nuclear device and kills thousands of people. the mother of the boy, calls the police and the ctu agents save her boy and get info on where the bomb is, albeit, too late. would they be justified in using some force to find out where the bomb is? defintely yes. the terrorists’ “civil” rights versus the “rights” of the thousands who might die. try to think about that.

You obviously don’t watch the show. If you had you would know that you are wrong. I can think of numerous examples but here is the biggest. In Season Five, the president and his administartion gave the order for Jack to remain undercover and allow the terrorists to release the deadly nerve gas in the mall killing hundreds in an effort to get to the mastermind behind it all and find the remaining canisters and prevent the potential loss of thousands. Here the ends might have justified the means but Jack wasn’t going to allow that. He defied the orders and stopped the attack for the most part saving nearly everyone in the mall.

In 2nd season when Jack shot, killed and decapitated a handcuffed prisoner (who happened to be a child raper) in order to get an “in” to a terrorist cell, that did it for me–finito as far as that series goes.

He defies orders, sometimes. But all too often, he’s in the same league as the written James Bond–the sort of man, it was said, who could saw a living kitten in half for Queen and Country
