33 day Consecration to Jesus through Mary?

I read about it here:

I thought it looked like a good thing to do, and I am trying to find new ways to abandon sin and join myself to Christ, so I was considering bringing this up with my priest soon.
But I saw this site:
societyoftheimmaculata.com/Consecration.html
And some of the things kind of scared me, it talks about being Mary’s slave, and that my soul will become her property.
These things don’t really seem right, and I’m starting to feel discouraged from starting the devotion.
Can anyone explain these things to me?

One of the preparations for the consecration is reading “True Devotion to Mary” by St. Louis de Montfort. Read it and those things will make more sense. Here it is online:
