I was wondering if anyone knew if the Jesuits had a 3rd Order for lay people. Thanks for any info on this subject.

There is none that I know of, and Jesuits does not have a female counterpart either. However the first community of women religious dedicated to the retreat ministry known today as the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM Sisters) is an offshoot of the Jesuits ministry. The Society of Jesus played a great role in the foundation of this community. The RVM was founded in 1684 by Mother Ignacia of the Holy Spirit. Ignatius Associates would be the closest thing. When I went to a Jesuit High School the Wisconsin Province was one of two Provinces testing out Ignatius Associates. I do not know the status of other Jesuit Provinces.I was wondering if anyone knew if the Jesuits had a 3rd Order for lay people. Thanks for any info on this subject.![]()
