Does your parish offer a 40 hrs devotion? I haven’t been to one in decades

I don’t know if they have fallen out of favor, or the priests are just to busy now to offer them…🤷

I am not aware of any occurrence since the closing of Vatican II, but some parishes have either a perpetual adoration chapel which is open 24/7 or in some cases a similar chapel that has adoration for various periods of time 24/?. I think these accomplish essentially what the 40 hours were intended to do except they lose the significance of the number 40. That is not to say that in some dioeses it still takes place…My experience is limited to my local diocese of Superior Wisconsin. 🙂

There have been fourty hours’ devotions in my Diocese.

I think they’re much more popular with “Latin Mass” groups, though this was by a normal Parish.

My take is that many Diocesan clergy either don’t know about quarant’ore or don’t care. (I’m sorry, but I think that is honest.)
