Kerry made this comment last night. Does anybody know of its validity?

Yep. A lot get caught, many more don’t.

Lou Dobbs Interview - June 17, 2004

Casey Wian (CNN): “Congressman Kolbe said that 155,000 people had been apprehended along the Arizona border in the first three months of this year.”

Rep. Kolbe (to McCain): “That’s about right, sir.”

Sen. McCain: And they figure about one out of four or five are apprehended?"

Rep. Kolbe: “That’s right.”

Sen. McCain: “So, if you extrapolate those numbers, say 150,000 times four, that would be about 650,000 people attempting or crossing in just a three month period…that would be two million four hundred thousand in one year.”

===

The vast majority are Mexicans going into America for jobs.

Only this. If they can be counted so accurately, we MUST know who they are. Otherwise the proper statement would be to approximate the number based on our best evidence of the growth of the illegal population from year to year or whatever the epoch of measure may be used.

These are only estimates based on who we catch and what people say. Also realize, we have a revolving door at the border, when we catch someone we ship them back, then they try again, so the numbers are not distinct individuals, but numbers of attempts.

I don’t think he can back that up with facts…just like most of their claims, such as people being uninsured. They claim 45,000,000 people are without health insurance, but what they don’t tell you is how fudged those figures are. Those figures include people that have been without health insurance for one day…so if they changed jobs and weren’t covered for a day, they count them as being without insurance for a whole year…that knocks out roughly 20,000,000-25,000,000 people right there. Then you have those on public programs that are counted as uninsured and that knocks out a chunk of them. Then you have the wealthy, who opt not to have health insurance because they can afford whatever medical bills they have without insurance…so that knocks out a large chunk. And finally you have young people who just don’t think they need health insurance, because they are young and in great health…and they don’t want health insurance. So when it comes down to it, it is more like 10,000,000-15,000,000 people without health insurance…a far cry from the Dems figure of 45,000,000…oh how they distort the facts.

My husband was working around the TX/Mex boarder a few years ago. He said you could actually watch them crossing the river. One of the guys he had noticed pretty closely.

The next week he saw the same guy going back to Mexico. He asked about it and one of the boarder guards say’s, most of them do go back. They find they have no money, job or support here and just go back home.

Of course not all do, but it is a common occurrence.

Yep

Did you notice that Kerry’s reply talked about retina scans and fingerprints to address illegal crossings? Is he clueless about people crossing at non-offical border crossing points?

Yea, when I heard it I just shook my head. What are we going to do, stop someone crossing the desert and say ‘would you please hold on a minute while I check your retina’? HEHE!

If they would pass a retina scan, they would use the gateways. We already are coming up with plans to use high tech IDs to let known people who are safe through those checkpoints.

Your right, Kerry just doesn’t know what it is like out here.
