I have two questions about the 54 day rosary novena:

Q1. When saying 54 day rosary novena, am I allowed to exclude luminous mystery?
The reason why there is 27 days of petition and 27 days of thanksgiving is because when 54 day rosary novena was started, there was no luminous mystery and “one full-rosary” consisted of joyful, sorrowful, and glorious mystery (15 decades total). so for instance if you spend 27 days for petition by offering 5 decades of rosary on each day, it takes 3 days to pray one full rosary and so you do 27/3= 9 full rosary during those 27 days (same goes for 27 days of thanks giving) - hence the name “novena” (novena means 9 consecutive prayers).
I do like luminous mystery but I find it disrupt the original pattern that our blessed mother gave us - so do I have to include luminous mystery in my 54 day rosary novena?

Q2. Instead of spending 54 days of praying, can I choose to pray 15 decades of rosary for 18 days (9 days for petition and 9 days for thanksgiving)?

Thank you,

The rosary is a private devotion, so you can do it however you want.

I’m currently doing a 54 Day Novena and the traditional method does omit the Luminous Mysteries.
