Of the 7 deadly sins; pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed & sloth, which one(s) is/are having the most damage on our country & why?

Number one for myself would be lust, which contributes greatly to the breakdown of the family & our culture. But also greed & envy which has led to our economic troubles. Greed, which leads people to only worry about the end of making money while not worrying about the means that gets them the money. Envy, when many Americans want to tear down legitimate success & believe they deserve the same thing. So this envy has led us to live outside of our means, while at the same time having our spending priorities turned upside down within our lives & families.

I think envy is, because I think envy is a the root of all the other ones, basically. This is a great, very thought provoking question. Too bad we had to ask this, but it really is something!

I think sloth is most damaging. People aren’t living up to their potential, aren’t studying as hard as they could be, aren’t working as hard as they should be and we all lose out on the contributions and achievements they would have made had they been more hardworking.

Gluttony may be damaging as well because overweight people get sick more, and as a result aren’t as productive as they would have otherwise been.

I think pride is the root of all of these - a person is too proud to follow God’s laws, he thinks that he knows what is best for himself as opposed to all the wisdom of the ancients before him. Pride is the root of moral relativism and I think it leads to most or all of the other 7 deadly sins.

But try removing 6 of these sins and leaving just one and it’s still horrible.

I think pride is the most subtle in damaging society, but it may have the most damaging effects.

In all Honesty. The 7 Deadly Sins are natural human instinct. Its natural for humans to do it. Its why Humanity is ultimately flawed.

Sloth is basically laziness, envy is basically jealousy, Lust is basically the craving of something that you really want, gluttony is the enjoyment of food and beverages without much restraint, Wrath is basically anger, Greed is basically humans wanting more money for the extra material things in life. Pride is pretty common.

Pride is nothing more then the Human’s refusal to admit or doubt possibilities that cause them emotional distress. Believe it or not, Pride in this sense is everywhere in Religion. ALL religions and is the core of human nature…

Pride…Humans don’t want to be wrong. They don’t want to admit their wrong when they are.

The 7 Deadly sins will ALWAYS be rampant so long as humans are the dominant species on earth.

Wikipedia has this and I think it has a point- "In almost every list Pride (Latin, superbia), or hubris, is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and indeed the ultimate source from which the others arise. "
