Yep. I scratched my head as soon as I heard a nomination for “Into the Woods.”

Of course, I’ve been scratching my head at the thought that it took someone so long to produce a film version of “Into the Woods,” so what do I know? 😉
 
J.K. Simmons (who also plays “Professor Burke” on the Farmers Insurance TV commercials) was just – well, I don’t know what the word would be – in “Whiplash.” The only shoo-in win - Oscar, SAG, Golden Globe, whatever - is his Supporting Actor role in “Whiplash.” Whoever says he gave one of the Best Acting Performances Ever is not exaggerating. That’s one of the ONLY things I am going to remember from any movie I saw this year: and it’s reportedly based on a real music teacher, too.
