I’ve been struggling with an issue lately, and although I will always invoke the help of St. Jude, I was looking through my prayer cards, and suddenly remembered something.
A very long time ago (probably around 1996), I was having a terrible time dealing with a break up. I was emotionally very immature and although I was a lot older than most people who experience their first heartbreak, my despair was taking over my life.To be perfectly candid, it was an obsession My faith was (at best) lukewarm, but I had a prayer book and there was nine-day Novena to St Rita included in it. I remember sitting on the #42 bus on Chestnut St in Center City Philadelphia (where I lived at the time), and praying this novena. I know for certain that I was released from this despair, and was able to get over this heartbreak. My obsession ended. Unfortunately, I did not have the kind of gratitude that I should have for this great favor. In fact, for a very long time I didn’t have much faith at all. I now, all these years later, feel guilty that I did not thank St. Rita and our Lord for helping me. So, I’m doing that now
Thank you, St. Rita!
