A Blessing To Be Humiliated especially for the cause of Christ.

I have heard this before. Have others??
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10
Perhaps something to remember and difficult to do.

Any other thoughts or Biblical quotes? I am aware of a Saint who wrote some things on this topic that might be helpful to read as well. It’s probably one of the last blessings we want being human!

I think the Crowning of the Thorns especially, is an example of where the Christ was humiliated. Renaissance paintings seem to depict the event with reverence. However, I’d imagine it was something as in the Passion of the Christ movie, Christ was mocked.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

He was also crucified, which was the most humiliating punishment the Romans could deliver.

He was also stripped naked when He was hung on the cross, which is one of the most humiliating things you could do to a Jew.

This is very kind, charitable and generous of you however, the premise of this thread is not being a prayer intention thread.

So I guess I should look for my quotes to justify the premise more so.

Exactly, this is more in the ball park of what we are talking about.

I know there are Catholic outreaches that call for Redemptive Suffering, usually we associate this with perhaps an infirmity but it can take on different guises as well, if one were imprisoned, justly or not and so on.

St. Louis de Montfort seemed to talk about not necessarily humility but humiliations:
During seventeen years he preached the Gospel in countless towns and villages. As an orator he was highly gifted, his language being simple but replete with fire and divine love. His whole life was conspicuous for virtues difficult for modern degeneracy to comprehend: constant prayer, love of the poor, poverty carried to an unheard-of degree, joy in humiliations and persecutions.

St. Louis de Montfort seemed to talk about not necessarily humility but humiliations:
Let me clarify, St. Louis De Montfort certainly was involved in humility meaning being humble, humility in lifestyle.

But I do think he addressed also, the kind of “humiliations” that might occur as say, when one is held up to ridicule.
