In the Gospel of John, I don’t remember the verse because I was just watching the movie about the Gospel. A blind man was no longer blind after Jesus had used mud and His saliva on this man’s eyes.

What is the message in using mud and His saliva?
How could this relate to His Body and Blood being the food for our souls?

Thanks!

Hi water,
;
Yes I think It is directly related to his Body and Blood. Because he, through the Incarnation became Matter.He, the Creator of Matter became matter for our sake. So in using the earth and mixing it with his saliva (which he didn’'t have to do) he is showing us the awesome dignity of matter. The physical can be holy as well as the spiritual.
In theology this is called the Incarnational Principle.

Thank you Franciscan!

This does make sense when “The Word became flesh and His dwelling among us”. If one believes his Word is the food for your spiritual, one should believe His own Body and Blood are too - it is not for our flesh.

It also goes to show that God can work miracles not only by single miraculous commands but also through ordinary elements.

MDs in a small way–nothing like what Jesus did in curing the blind man to be sure–also work miracles with elements.

Not to mention that sacramentals which are made of ordinary elements can also convey miraculous power.

God also created in Genesis by merely saying things such as “Let there be light” and also by forming man from the dust of the ground and breathing into his nostrils the breath of life.

Now some will say that means that God creates only by evolutionary ways–others say that God creates only by special miraculous ways–I maintain that God can create by BOTH ways and He can HEAL by BOTH ways.

However God or Jesus chose to create or heal is fine with me.
