If you’re on a date at 3am and don’t want to hang out at nightclubs and drink to excess…what exactly do you do at that hour?

Say goodnight. 😛

Depends on the resources at hand. (I believe you are a city girl.)

Walk in the park? All night bowling? Ever open cafe? Train spotting?

Eh, that’s kind of the perils of people with weird work schedules. Most of your time to be together is going to be at odd hours.

There’s a city around but it’s not really the kind of major urban center where lots of things are open at night, other than bars and nightclubs. But I don’t really know what to look for either.

There’s not much to do at 3:00 am unless you’re in a major city.

(Probably not the best time to go on a date if that is the case IMHO.)

All I can think of are all night cafes and astronomy. 🙂

Head to an all night restaurant like IHOP, Denny’s or a place like them. Have coffee or another beverage, a piece of pie, then chat away until the sun comes up.

That’s what I used to do when I was out with friends at that time of the morning.

We’d go out to a late movie, and then would go out to breakfast at IHOP afterwards.

Mmm…Chocolate chip pancakes at 2 a.m…Those were the days! 😁 😉

If you can find one, a diner. At that hour, they won’t really care how long you linger over your coffee, tea or soda. Great for people watching.

Happy cake day, btw!

Oh hey cake day! It’s been a few years now. My first posts were in 2012, before RCIA.

Welcome to the world of the shift worker.

Mind, this is a long-distance date, so we’re trying to avoid “hang out for an hour or two and then go home”, because it’s not like we’re going to be able to meet back up next week or something. And with schedules most of the day is sleep time.

Waffle House? iHOP? Many McDonald’s are open 24 hours.

You can sit at any of these, if you don’t want a full meal just have ice cream or coffee and pie and talk.

ETA the people watching in 24 hour places is enough to keep the conversation going!!

Or even walking around in the area, imagining out loud with your date what could have happened there. For example, if you are in front of a bank, ask your date to describe who frequents that bank. Did any robberies occur? Maybe Columbo solved his first crime there.

If you are in front of a shoe store, say “did you know that Cinderella bought her first pair of slippers here?”

Lots of imagination used, it brings you both closer together, and is great for getting some insight into your date’s character.

In some small towns, strolling the streets “window shopping” at 3 AM will get you questioned by the police.

As will walking down the street in some areas. Know your environment and adjust accordingly.
