Hi there,

Well, I’m considering the Catholic Church, and have been for a few months now. But I’m finding it more difficult than I thought to actually find someone to consistantly talk with about my struggle. The priests are very very busy, and can only get together with me once every few months or so. This struggle has been very emotionally and spiritually draining on me, and I just feel like I need someone to talk to. I feel like I don’t know how to love God anymore because I’m spending so much time just questioning.

Does anyone know a hotline I can call to talk with someone about these issues? I’m starting to attend RCIA this fall, but would really just like someone to talk to tonight…because I am just very tired and need help from someone, not just myself.

Thanks.

Have you thought about one-on-one spiritual direction? You don’t have to be Catholic to talk to a Catholic spiritual director. There are lay spiritual directors as well as priests, monks and nuns. There also may be a retreat center within a reasonable distance where you could take a few days and really have some good talk time to help you with your questions. And they’ll be able to help you figure out when you’re ready to take it further. The diocese office can tell you what’s available in your area to help with your discernment process.

Welcome Craisin, it’s nice to meet you. 🙂

Anything we can help with, or maybe you’d just like to chat?

Craisin, I hope you are feeling better today and will take the good advice of the posters above. I wrote a pretty long response to you late last night but it got lost when my connection dropped.

The gist of it was:

that I remembered your needs in my rosary intentions last night,

to remind you to be patient with yourself and let God lead you at His pace - your RCIA is coming soon (yay!),

remember that seeking God is one of the best, life-long ways of loving Him,

and if you’re fatigued spiritually - St. Paul says that’s because you’re a spiritual athlete. Press on!

As you are going through the RCIA soon, many questions can be asked and answered then, so, as you wish not to let your prayer life, your personal relationship with God fade, maybe prayer is the most important part of the process for you right now.

Even so do contact any of us any time in the Forums or our PM’s.

God bless you for your courage and faith!
I’ll keep you in my prayers.

Trishie:)

I would like to know how/why you decided to think about becoming Catholic. What religion were you raised in?

Male or female?

any other info you would like to share would be good.

Just wondering where you are coming from. Thanks. 🙂
