I am a new Catholic girl who come from China.
I found this place two days ago and keep watching other’s Q&A , they did solve some of my doubt.
But I think there’s a special question I need to ask for your suggestions.
As you can see, in China we have two kinds of Catholic Church. The above one and the underground one. Underground church also sometimes referred to as “Vatican loyalists” because they have attempted to remain loyal to the Pope and the Holy See. Underground churches in China are considered illegal, although smaller groups of fewer than 5 members are sometimes tolerated by the government.
It is not unusual that Chinese Catholics attending underground churches get arrested, detained without trial, even tortured.
And otherwise, Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association also exists in China. It is the only organizational body of Catholics in China officially recognized by the government of the People’s Republic of China, but is not recognized by the Vatican .
At the first time I stepped into the Catholic Church which nears my house, I didn’t think of what’s the difference between CPCA and the underground Church. But as time goes by, I found that it belongs to CPCA.
So I felt so confused and annoyed . I wonder if I should leave this church as soon as possible or just stay here? (I didn’t found it has any difference with other underground so far though)
Forgive my poor English ability… Hope I did conveyed my feelings well.
Please pray for all the Chinese Catholic, they are still facing the darkest time .
