I am a prayer warrior here, and although I have not posted recently, I have been praying.

I am here to ask for some discernment and clarity re: my career as an ICU nurse. I have been at my current hospital for about 2 1/2 years. In that time, I have learned so much about people, about medicine, responsibility, and friends. They pay I receive is the lowest of all hospitals in my city, but the trade off has been working with great people and interesting medical conditions.

Lately I have been experiencing “compassion fatigue.” and when I am not at work, all I want to do is sleep or just stay at home. I feel more numb now. Although there is still a lot for me to learn, I feel like I have “hit the ceiling” as far as my unit is concerned. My patients love me and I have been recognized numerous times, but I get the feeling management sees me as more of a worker bee than management material. This is okay by me, I just want to branch out my range/ skill set more. Not to mention, the icu feels like it “can suck the soul out of you” sometimes.

I am finding several job opportunities coming my way now that I have experience. Ideally, I would like to be a part if the FLEX team at my hospital full time, or part time at least, and hold onto my benefits and get paid quite a bit more for the same back-breaking work. A good friend of mine is scoping out the info for me and thinks I would be great at it. If that falls through, I have a great opportunity in an icu at a teaching hospital full time which pays even better ( but the conditions are tough over there).

It’s time for a change. Please pray especially today that she calls me with great news of a new opportunity for me. I love nursing and the people I work with, but I need to grow and need more money for my family of five to live.

Thanks for taking the time to read, RavelloFestival!

I know a lot of nurses and I never knew one who worked in direct patient care especially with critical patients who did not experience this burnout and find themselves in need of a change at some point. Praying for you discernment.

Praying that you get a quick response from your friend …

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

An Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and a Fatima Prayer for Ravello Festival’s intentions. Grant O Lord that she may not burn out but find a situation where she may get a proper wage and opportunities to develop her career in helping others, in Christ’s name. Amen.

Praying for your intentions….

Lord Jesus, You have said,
“Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.”
With confidence in Your loving heart
which offers rest to weary souls,
we come to You in this time of special need.
In Your unfailing love,
read the prayer that is written on our hearts,
and grant the grace that we ask of You,
in accordance with Your holy will.
In Your name we pray.
Amen.

Praying that you find the best job for yourself ASAP. May you persevere in faith and be abandoned to the Lord’s merciful love full of confidence in His merciful love. May you pray a lot and find strength and healing from your exhaustion by praying to Jesus and by receiving Him in the Eucharist…and by getting your rest. Amen.
