From wikipedia:I did a search for you. About half way down on the document.

After 1350, European culture in general turned very morbid. The general mood was one of pessimism, and contemporary art turned dark with representations of death.
So, you do get some credit. In retrospect, it seemed like everything the people thought to do at the time simply made the problem worse. For example, since many equated the plague with God’s wrath against sin, and that cats were often considered in league with the Devil, cats were killed en masse. Had this bias toward cats not existed, local rodent populations could have been kept down, lessening the spread of plague-infected fleas from host to host.

Hmm, can we go with “implied”?“The Catholic Church connected them and those who loved them with paganism, devil worship, and witchcraft.”
But that doesn’t show that the CC is calling cats “satanic creatures”!
Well, Mickey Mouse is a fictional character, so I don’t see how they can attack him.Location: Saudi Arabia.

SabbathKeeper, it sounds like an urban myth that has been circulating, not a “historic fact.” I studied History in college, and did a project (which included a 20-page research paper) on the “Black Death” (the bubonic plague) and I have never seen any credible historical sources say the Pope ordered the burning of cats. This is historic fact. I have no references but I’m sure if you Google Bubonic Plague or some such thing you will find it.
irrational cartoons created by irrational people who believe in an irrational religion and in turn creating a new irrational generation. There was a children’s program in Palestine produced by Hamas, “Tomorrow’s Pioneers”, that had a jihadist mouse named Farfour.
He eventually got killed by a wicked Zionist soldier.

There were no references on the website you linked to either, SabbathKeeper…do you believe everything you read on the internet?
Whoa, I think you were missing the point. On one hand you have the comdemnation of cartoon mouse stating that all rats/mice are unclean and should be exterminated by a religious person and yet on the other hand a cartoon mouse is used by the SAME religion he professes. Kind of hypicritical (sp) if you ask me.Amazing how people just believe what they wish and write what they wish!
Ya gonna sit there and tell me that throughout history America hasn’t cheated, killed, slaughtered innocents? My anscestors?? But yet, disney is there and everything is cool? Beevis and Butthead are what?? great to a christian? S e x is ok? But yet a cartoon character trying to raise spirits of those who are tortured on a daily basis, hardly no fresh drinking water, approximately one potatoe to family, torn clothes is what to yall? a Party mix for extremists? What extremists?? They can’t live one day with what we have and you blast with harshness to what you have no idea of!
Shame on the Christians who do this
americanrevert
How can they?! Looney Toons are also evil! The cartoons regularly show an adult man being aroused by a crossdressing male rabbit!Just as long as he leaves Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes alone.![]()

First, you buy products from Acme…Has anyone bothered to ask the Sheikh how he plans on killing a cartoon character?
I guess Roadrunner or Daffy Duck cartoons are not available in the Kingdom? If you see those cartoons, you know the animal chracters will blow themselves up or drop themselves off a cliff, but they are always alive again in the next scene!

Are birthdays really forbidden in Islam? I didn’t know that. I have a friend, born in Qatar to Pakistani parents, and he showed me pictures of his sister’s birthday celebrations only a few months ago. It seemed like a joyous occasion, and the father of the family (a devout Muslim; his son, my friend, is not so devout, but still apparently goes to mosque for the benefit of his parents and the family’s reputation) is seen in them. He isn’t smiling, but he is there, so I guess he must approve enough to let it happen. Maybe this is someting more specific to Muslims of the subcontinent than to the rest of the Islamic world, though. Hmm.If you want to know, in Islam, we are not to imitate what the disbelievers do. This is forbidden in Islam…birthdays, celebrations, etc.
Yes, it may be joyous to them and to many other Muslims who do not abide by the teachings in the religion of Islam. Many are ignorant and it is stated in sahih ahadith that may Muslims will copy and follow them even to the small little hole of a lizard (meaning they will enter into it with them). It is a made up celebration and we do not celebrate but only on two occasions…both Eids. Yes, we can have parties etc…(halal ones lol) and we give gifts to encourage love between each other etc., but to copy the disbelievers in their actions is wrong and it is stated so in sahih ahadith. It is an innovation in belief and has nothing to do in regards to sharee’ah.by Dzheremi…Are birthdays really forbidden in Islam? I didn’t know that. This is interesting seeing that the Nazi’s used to teach that the Jews actually evolved from rats.Update:
After researching more & more on why mouses should be killed in Islam, I found that there is a link between the mouses and the Jewish people, in the two authentic hadiths below, Muhammed claims that certain group of Jewish people has deformed into rats, so maybe our Islamic clerics nowadays think that all mouses are Jews therefore they should be killed !!!
Sahih Muslim, Book 042, Number 7135:
“Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: A group of Bani Isra’il was lost. I do not know what happened to it, but I think (that it 'underwent a process of metamorphosis) and assumed the shape of rats. Don’t you see when the milk of the camel is placed before them, these do not drink and when the milk of goat is placed before them, these do drink…”

Sahih Muslim, Book 042, Number 7136:
“Abu Huraira reported that the rat (is the result of) metamorphosis (of a group of Bani Isra’il) and the proof of this is that when the milk of goat is placed before it, it drinks it, and when the milk of the camel is placed before it, it would not taste it at all. Ka’b said: Did you hear it from Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him)? Thereupon he said: Has Torah been revealed to me?”

What I said was not a fatwa to kill Mickey Mouse nor would any reasonable minded person say such a thing," sheikh Munajid said.

"What was mentioned in the video clip was one of the rulings in dealing with harmful animals, such as rodents and scorpions under a broader discussion of the effect of media and characters on the family and children," he explained.
"So, the real issue discussed was harmful rodents and mice, not Mickey."
A fatwa against scorpions and rodents? Where is the logic in that? How about issuing fatwas against Osama Bin Laden or Al-Qaeda? Wouldn’t that be more logical? This is definitely one cultural barrier i will never understand.Munajid blamed such controversies on cultural misunderstandings and misinformation.
"People who honestly search for the truth will utilize authentic sources," he stressed.
"Our advice to people and media outlets who rely on translations is to ensure they are using objective sources and ovoid translations that are misleading at best."
