Hi all,

I wanted to let you all know that I appreciate your welcome and all your feedback in answering the questions I posted.

I realize even though we believe in the same God, Jesus, and heaven, we have different beliefs on how God wants us to live our lives to honor Him. As a former Catholic, I understand the teaching of the chuch, which I agree is the first establised named religious church.

Since leaving the church, I believe I found some truths in the bible which I was not aware of as a catholic. Since expressing some of those beliefs here, I found out that written communication is not always best and can lead to misunderstanding… which then can lead to frustration (I am guilty) and then lead to expressing words which can be taken as me attacking instead of a friendly lets share our differences.

Having said that, I want to offer to you, from the bottom of my heart a sincere apology for anything which I have written which you may have taken as being offensive and/or a personal attack. I ask you to forgive me.

I know you share my feelings that if we believe someone is headed down a path which leads to danger, we both would want to inform that person of the danger which lies ahead and let them know what we believe is the safe path.

I look at every human being on the face of this earth as my distant brothers and sisters since all our family trees wind up with the same great…great…great…great… great grandparents, Adam and Eve and the same heavenly Father, God.

This temporary visit has been a learning experience. Again, I thank you all for you welcome.

Sorry but I disagree with the above statement. I’ve been following your posts on a few threads and it’s clear that you do not understand even the most basic Church teachings. Stick around learn what the Church really teaches.

Are you sure about this? As a former evangelical Protestant, I know from experience how distorted and confused the Church’s teachings can appear when viewed through the lens of a non-Catholic belief system. Seeing Catholic doctrine through evangelical eyes is not necessarily the same as seeing Catholic doctrine accurately or clearly.

I highly recommend these excellent books:

James Akin, The Salvation Controversy (Catholic Answers, 2001)

Patrick Madrid, Surprised By Truth: Eleven Converts Give the Biblical & Historical Reasons for Becoming Catholic (Basilica Press, 1994)

Stephen K. Ray, Crossing the Tiber: Evangelical Protestants Discover the Historical Church (Ignatius Press, 1997)

Kenneth D. Whitehead, One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic: The Early Church Was the Catholic Church (Ignatius Press, 2000)

As interpreted by whom? According to which Protestant tradition (there are multiplied hundreds, you know)? Are you reading the Bible as a Baptist? A Lutheran? A Methodist? Presbyterian? Episcopalian? Pentecostal? Mennonite? Through which of these lenses are you arriving at your understanding of the “truths” you mention? And what assurance do you have that the particular non-Catholic lens you’ve chosen is in fact interpreting the Scriptures correctly? The Protestant movement is a breeding ground for biblical confusion and misinterpretation, as the some 35,000 competing Protestant denominations and sects clearly demonstrate.

Instead, why not be guided by the Church established by Jesus Christ himself, the Church from which the New Testament writings emerged, and which officially and authoritatively defined the biblical Canon itself? Why not come back to the historic Christian Church you walked away from, and return to that original fold which is every Christian’s true home?

Everyone’s spiritual journey is at different stages, we all have different experiences, different opportunities and different encounters. We all have different ways of understanding and learning - why can’t people understand that and be sensitive to it?

The only thing I can really say to you, is to keep your soul and heart open to God and follow Him wherever He may lead you. He will lead you home to Him if you listen to Him and follow him and hopefully one day we will all talk of these times from behind the pearly gates - catholic and non-catholic
