My wife and I have a young friend who is a leader in his youth group. He has helped the pro life ministry with which my wife and I do extensive work. He pleasantly surprised us this week when he told us that he is discerning a vocation to the priesthood. 👍 We regularly pray for him and for God to nurture this vocation. He is from a Cuban family and speaks both English and Spanish fluently. He is very respectful and conservative, :dancing: while having a fine outgoing personality. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who can help me out with some information concerning options. I don’t want to see this guy get turned off to the priesthood because of a seminary with horrible theology. :tsktsk: This would only end with him questioning his whole faith. I remember going to a terrible RCIA back in 1997 in Los Angeles which made me question my nascent commitment to the Church and delayed my entrance into the Sacraments of Christ for 6 years. :banghead: (Mahoney’s Minions) What options does this young man have? Especially important would be any information specific to Florida or Central Florida - Orlando Diocese.

Thumbs up indeed! Congratulations on being so blessed with a vocation in your parish.

I totally understand. I was actually looking into a vocation to the priesthood about 10 years ago. (I have since discerned that God’s will for me was elsewhere - I am now married with a 14-month old daughter and another on the way in November.)

There’s a lot to discuss, and I’d be more than happy to talk to you and your friend. I live in Orlando (on the East side of town, by Waterford Lakes), so I could easily get together with either of you. Please email me at JamieBeu@yahoo.com so we can figure out where and when to meet, so I can get you any and all information you may need.

Again, God bless you, and your friend will be in our family’s prayers.

Some bishops send their seminarians to a certain seminary, while others leave the decision up to the individual student.
A seminary I can certainly recommend is Kenrick-Glennon in St. Louis. I’d also recommend to your friend to get a good spiritual director in the mean time to help with the journey and discernment process.

God Bless.

I was just looking at the website of Kenrick-Glennon. The campus is beautiful.
