Ok, this may seem like a nonsensical story but I wanted to share this.
The 80’s were good times for me as a kid. I remember years back there used to be a song that I loved. I never knew the name of the song.
Years past, I watched a movie with the song playing. And one of the characters in the movie said “Ooh I love this song, its called Carry a Laser!” That was sort of a joke, because I knew the song was not called carry a laser. Still loved the song, but still had no idea what this song was called.
Fast forward once again. I come back to the Catholic Church. During Mass one day, I had the thought, after the priest said the doxology "Kyrie Eleison, Christi Eleison, Kyrie Eleison. I thought to myself, hmm, Kyrie sounds a lot like that lyric from the song.
Months pass.
Yesterday, I was feeling like I needed to listen to some 80’s music. I start listening to some stuff. I see the word Kyrie and clicked it. Sure enough this 80’s band is singing Kyrie Eleison! I lit up from this song.
I dont know why I was so moved by this. I think because I felt God wanted me to hear it again for some reason. And He also showed me how He works even through non believer’s.
I say non believer’s because the lead singer was given this song to sing all those years ago and he didn’t want to sing it because of the religiousness of the song. And because he didn’t want anyone to think he was a Christian. His friend kept pushing him to perform it, so eventually he caved and sang the song. The song took on a life of it’s own and became a huge hit. The lead singer later said "yeah, I would get all these people coming up to me telling me how much they love that song carry a laser. Lol.
Idk, I guess it all just strikes me as funny. Kyrie Eleison is really distinctively Catholic language and here, somehow it becomes a hit song of the 80’s where you likely have a bunch of athiests unknowingly running around praising God.
