Who would be a good saint to ask to pray for me on this situation:

Me and my girlfriend have been dating for awhile now and wanting to introduce me to her parents but they arnt even wanting to meet me and tell her that she shouldnt even be dating me because of what she went through with her kids father. I know that if theyd give me a chance, then they’d love me. I just wish theyd be more open-minded about me because i love their daughter with everything i have and i know it’s important to her that they accept me.

Is there like a patron saint of inlaws or something like that that would kinda fit my situation?

Thanks in advance and God bless

Is she free to date and marry you? You are kinda vague here but was she married to the father and is she divorced with an annulment. Maybe they don’t want to meet you because they feel she should be with the father and not you. If she isn’t free to date and marry you, then maybe you need to move on.

No they were never married.

And no they absolutely hate the father of her kids. They just think it’s too soon i guess. For her children. I’ve been in the childrens lives for awhile now tho and i see them as my own. I’m in their life more than the father ever is.

I left the description kinda vague on purpose so it wouldn’t overshadow my actual question

St. Eugene de Mazenod, patron saint of dysfunctional families is the closest I was able to come! 😉
:angel1:
Let me say a prayer for you in any case.

St. Eugene, please pray for the OP.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blest is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

St Joseph. He’s good, virtuous, hardworking, made sacrifices, a foster parent. AN IN-LAW to St Anne.

Now you need to really step back and think of her parents. They want the best for their child. She gets involved with a no-good guy and has kids. He is a deadbeat. Then their daughter finds another guy–How do they know you are not a deadbeat? These are her parents. They will be there for her until they die. They have no idea where you will be.

The first step is to back away and give everyone some air, kids included. If things don’t turn out right between you and her, you don’t want the kids to be let down AGAIN

Now I’m sure you have the best intentions, the greatest confidence, respect, etc but if you used some logic, you might really begin to see how her parents see things and you might then prove your worth. I hope you are not sexually involved with her. If you are, all bets are off, most likely, If you really want her you are going to have to chastely pursue the woman as you “date” her entire family and teach them to trust you. The trust will come when you stop assuming you are Mr Perfect for her but instead show the parents how solid you are as a man and provider. Show them patiently that you fit the bill and that you will be as discerning and careful a parent when your children are grown. Do not rush anyone.

It’s kind of weird that you’ve been so involved with her kids but haven’t met the parents yet, which is presumably why they are freaking out.

In general, you probably should gently dial down your involvement with these children even as you continue to see their mother, because it is not fair to them to introduce a “daddy” into their lives that they may well lose. That can be devastating.

Keep dating, don’t do “family” type stuff with the kids until you are definitely headed toward marriage. Also, think very long and seriously about whether you are the right man for her and whether she is the right woman for you. Don’t make excuses for bad habits she may have, and don’t just slip into the role of being her knight in shining armor. If you decide to marry, you should do especially serious premarital and family counseling–you guys will need amazing communication. Step-families can be very difficult, particularly with regard to discipline, finances, relations with the kids’ biological father, etc.

I like the idea of St. Joseph as a patron saint for you–remember, he was also not a biological father.

I add a vote for St. Joseph, as he is a protector of families and of chastity. Be very patient in this situation, and remember that Our Lady may have gotten a bad reception from St. Joseph’s neighbors and his side of the family, too, since they would all have been quite aware that she came into Joseph’s home already pregnant.

Do not just pray to him for help, but seek to imitate him. After all, the idea is not to be loved and trusted. The idea is to be worthy of love and trust. Do not seek to gain the reputation of a just man and the benefits that come with it; seek to always be worthy of such a reputation.

Here is the Litany of St. Joseph:

Lord, have mercy.
*Christ, have mercy. *
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, hear us.
*Christ, graciously hear us. *

God, the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.

*Spare us, O Lord. *

*Graciously hear us, O Lord. *

*Have mercy on us. *

V. He made him the lord of His house:
R. *And ruler of all His substance. *

Let us pray.
O God, who in Thine unspeakable providence didst vouchsafe to choose blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Thine own most holy Mother: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may deserve to have him for our intercessor in heaven, whom we reverence as our defender on earth: who livest and reignest world without end. *Amen. *
