This is an absolutely wonderful short film about Purgatory! Check it out at atomfilms.com. It’s called “In God We Trust.” (I wasn’t able to play it with Windows Media Player, but if you click on “change player settings” and select Real Player, you can watch it). It’s about 15 minutes long.

Why is this a wonderful film if it doesn’t even accurately portray the Doctrine of Purgatory. That would make it heretical, which in the Catholic paradigm, is an aweful thing, not “absolutely wonderful”?

Maybe you should get a sense of humor, Apologia. The film is categorized as a comedy.

Lighten up, sheesh!

By the way, have you ever seen Purgatory? I haven’t.

I thought the part where he was given points for smashing the boom box that played Ricki Martin to be hysterical. Did you see what the computer screen said when he did that, “Fighting crimes against humanity.” I don’t know about you, but I found that funny.

I also found it funny that when the computer crashed, and the Purgatory guy says, “Hang on a minute. We’re still using Windows.” Being an owner of a Windows Operating system, and knowing that Windows is quite often incompatible with itself, I found that funny!

There are instances where people have been sent back for a second chance. Ever heard of what happened to Father Scheier? Here’s his interview with Mother Angelica:

There can be a number of different manifestations of Purgatory. In this film, I interpret this man’s return to Earth as Earthbound Purgatory. We can ask to do our Purgatory while still living. I see the good works accumulated as his “repaying every penny.” We all know that nothing happens by accident. God allowed this Man to return to life, to do good works, just as God allowed Father Scheier to return to life, for a second chance.

Just because the film isn’t doctrinal to the letter is no reason for “trolling” me.

I think the film has value to those who see it thought the light of faith. After watching it, one gets the idea that one must do good works in order to get into Heaven, and this quite a Catholic notion.
