On July 4, 1776 America declares its independence from us over here .

I hope you have a happy holiday and that your country be blessed with that which makes for justice and peace .

I’ve put this in the “Family Life” section for in a sense the USA and UK are “family” .

These two videos of your national anthem depict this well .

The first shows the Star-Spangled Banner being played on the orders of Queen Elizabeth at the first Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace following the 9/11 attacks .

The second shows the same being played three days later in St Paul’s Cathedral in London during a memorial service for those killed in the 9/11 attacks .

I find them both deeply moving .

God bless you all .

Thank you for the kind wishes on our day!
It is nice that our countries still manage to be friends after all wot’s happened.
I hope that continues.
My grandpa was technically British as he was born in England and lived there as a child, so it is my heritage too.

Thank you, @Rob2. May the unpleasantness of the late 18th and early 19th centuries be forgotten; may our shared heritage unite us now and always.

(And thank you for those videos. Spectacular!)

In more ways than one! The US is the brother who is into bodybuilding and pub brawling, and the UK is the patient sibling who loves him nonetheless. Thanks for being there for us!

I grew up in a very blue-collar town. A good friend who grew up in the same town says it best…“We’re a little rough around the edges.” Probably a good analysis of the U.S. and the U.K.

Ah, family… Can’t live with em’ and can’t live without em’! 🤝

The blue-collar areas of UK would show we have that very much in common too.
