dumspirospero:
I was in a debate with a protestant friend of mine recently and I was arguing the necessity of chasity according to ones marital state, etc…and they brought up a good point…something I was not able to give an objective answer to. They brought up the topic of chasity as opposed to masturbation…they wanted to know, if it is more sinful to have pre-marital sex or to masturbate…I was dumbfounded by their question and I couldn’t give an honest response…so I ask you all. Is it more evil to masturbate or to have pre-marital sex…or are they both intrinsically evil?
Hi dumspirospero,
Lets just change the words a little. Is it more beneficial to eat “fried rocks” or boiled “petrified wood”? Well you won’t be doing either. So why discuss it. What is the point in discussing the eating of rocks and wood. None, because you wont be doing it and anyway it is impossible to do. Well you may say, “everyone does " and I will reply , so did I before I was called. But once you are called the Holy Spirit comes alive and you know that whatever you do is OK because you will quit when the time is right for you to quit and if a re-occurance happens it is a teaching lesson. example, I used to smoke heavily and my wife hated it and I used to try to stop and by starting again my wife and I would have bad arguements. One day, I had so many signs and again one more the next day, I became so scared ( at disobeying Christ in God) that I stopped. I had to tell my buddist wife and then she told me she was so worried about my health that one day before, she prayed to Jesus.
Think about this. If in all my efforts to stop smoking, I had succeeded then my buddist wife would not have had this great experience in the authority of Christ. It was necessary for me to wait ( and suffer in my pleasure) on the Lord who was waiting on Tui, my wife to be in the frame of mind to pray to Him.
Lessons like this, are a way of my life and they instill a trust by me in Him that is becoming more and more unshakable. I hate the sins that still control me and try to shake them, food being the only phsical one to my knowledge, but I know that when the time is right, whether it is a sudden or a gradual conquering, overcoming will happen.
Masterbating is a sin, who knows what or who you are thinking of and etc and joining Christ to a prostitute is disgusting, but really if you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit will put this to death (in God’s time) if you invite Him into this aspect of your life. Many people just want to hold on to their favourite sins and not invite Him into some area of their life. Ask yourself ,” which doors in my life have I closed to Christ".
and am I allowing the Holy Spirit to work in my life or is He just a name to me. In all honesty ask yourself how has He rescued you from sin in this earthly life. Personally, not from a book.
Really our minds should be focusing on the spiritual world.
Christ be with you
walk in love
