I remember doing research on him a while back and it said he had occult influences. Maybe he converted?

Careful, though--much of what we "know" about Poe came from him leaving his materials to someone he didn't realized hated him, who wrote the biography, etc . . .

His birth family was Episcopal(his mother being an immigrant from England.) and his adoptive father was Scottish, more than likely a Protestant background as well, but despite this his religious beliefs were never really known. I had a teacher claim he was an Agnostic, however, but then…I don’t know how he would know. Lol.
