Has anyone ever been called on the phone by a JW? This happened to me today and I commented to her that now the JW’s are resorting to a new tactic besides ringing doorbells. I have no idea how they got my number and at first I thought it was a sales call and then she started asking me if I read my bible. Well, I made that call short but now I’m wondering if anyone ever gets calls from JW’s? :whacky:

Hi Celeste,
As a former JW I can tell you that this is nothing new. JW’s MUST go out in service to remain in “good standing.” That mainly involves knocking on doors & leading Bible studies. Elderly & homebound JW’s don’t get a free pass… . if they can’t get around they are told to pull out a phone book & make phone calls OR send letters to the adresses listed. The JW’s who are homebound are told to keep track of their hours spent & also any contact they made with someone. I am quite certain you’ll get a call-back in the near future.

Annoying as the phone call may be, what a wonderful opportunity for you to tell this JW about the love in your heart for Jesus Christ and His Church! You could also offer to pray for him/her which will end the conversation fairly quickly.

Blessings,
CM

As a former JW myself, I never made phone calls. Of course, I was in my 20s and not disabled, so I went out regularly in
“The Field Service.” In our congregation, however, we did have a badly crippled girl who, I believe, wrote letters and made phone calls but I don’t remember ever hearing that the elders pressured her to do it.

Wow. It really looks like I was being used by someone I thought was a friendly voice on the phone. In my case, the JW was someone I met as a long-distance pen pal with a similar interest in Star Trek. After awhile, we switched from letters to phone calls. She definitely liked to discuss the Bible a lot. Given the distance, her chronically ill health, and her science fiction fan eccentricity, she was able to hide her religion from me for years. When I finally discovered the truth and let her know that I was aware of her secret, the “friendship” sure didn’t last too long after that.

what should we say on our voice mail message?
Hello, this is asquared, I love my long distance service, don’t want any more credit cards, and yes I have been saved. Please leave your name and number and I will call you back when and if I feel like it. Have a nice day."

Celeste:

If the calls continue, and you don’t want them anymore, get an unlisted phone number.

Dear Celeste,

Think that you are being loved by her. She wants you to be saved and in her notion, salvation is in JW teaching.
I once met a JW woman in a public transportation, she even gave me a magazine, AWAKE. But I am not interested in JW. There are some JW books which are good, I think.
So it depends on us. May be God wants you to call her come home to Catholic Faith - means you can share your belief to her too. Just who knows.

Love in Jesus

I asked more than once to have a JW call me, but none of them ever did. Usually their elders will not permit it.

ROFL, you should add, “if you have 20 million dollars or more to give me tax free…”

Hi Celeste, one does not have to get your number. Just dial one number at a time until someone answers. like 722-0000, 722-0001, and so on. Some protestant groups also do cold calling too.
