HI all. I’m feeling a little down right now and in need of prayers. I started RCIA last summer with hopes of completing with the rest of the class at Easter, but now it’s not going to happen. I knew that I needed an annulment from my first marriage, and was told that this would certainly be possible within the year, but just discovered that it cannot happen because the US cannot take on a case from another country. Now I’m having to deal with the Canadian Diocese and they are saying that it will take 2 years from now.
Somehow, I am getting the feeling that I will be in RCIA a long time 🙂 Although I’m feeling down, I simply have to look forward to this for a little bit longer and have patience. I guess, when I think of the alternative (giving up), there is no alternative.
I’ll keep going. Please say a prayer for me. On a positive note, I LOVE GOING TO RCIA!

I was once on a Catholic forum where one poster started RCIA and it took 3.5 years for the annulment process to complete. That was in the US. It was a huge trial, she got lots of forum support and it was such a wonderful blessing in the end she didn’t regret it at all.

So, hang in. We’re with ya!

Wow, being a cradle Catholic I am always impressed by people who, as adults, go through RCIA. As a kid I dealt with thoughts such as, “When is mass going to be over?” Now the mass always seems too short. You have to deal with, “When will I ever get to take part fully in the mass?” It is a much tougher circumstance to endure.

God bless

By the way why will it take up to 2 years for the Canadians to process your petition for annulment? Do they have to unthaw the records? 😉

I’m not sure why it’s longer up there. They sent the papers from here and they are the same papers. They don’t priorize RCIA people though like they do here. Ha ha just noticed the “thaw” :)) I have to keep a sense of humour about it though and be in RCIA longer Nd therefore more knowledgable. 🙂

I am glad you noticed the “thaw” part. In all my years I have yet to meet a Canadian that did not have a sense of humor. 👍

Well, except for The Banshee of Beaver Creek. Beaver Creek is the border checkpoint for those coming from Alaska.

"There’s A SIGN!!! There’s A SIGN!!!", she wailed while hammering her finger agianst the glass window where a sign was located. Since noboby was originally at the window I figured I would go inside and present myself and my passport. Apparently one is not supposed to cross some mystical “line” otherwise it could be:

“A THOUSAND DOLLARS!! A THOUSAND DOLLARS!! That could cost you!”

I resisted the urge to ask her, “Would that be Canadian or American dollars?”

I set my mind to listening to her diatribe and I was allowed into Canada without any fine. So, if this is something you want to do then set your mind to it. The time will go faster and be more productive without the fret and stress.

As Saint Padre Pio used to say, “Pray, hope and don’t worry.”

God bless
