In 2005, I attended a funeral for a little girl named Leah. Leah passed away six weeks before her first birthday with a condition similar to Down Sydrome. Long before Leah passed away, I had a vivid dream. In that dream, I was present for Leah’s funeral. I would like to share a story with you about Leah.
A year ago during the winter month’s, I came home from work. My heart was deeply troubled. A lot of worries. I had a strong desire to go to the cemetery and pour out my heart to this little girl. There had been a lot of snow on the ground. On this day all the snow around my house and work was gone. I decided to go on my day off from work and talk to Leah. The cemetery was about 10 miles from our house. I had things to take care of in the area. I made the trip to the cemetery. As I arrived, my heart sank. There was 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground. In the new section of Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery, only flat gravestones are allowed. It would be impossible to find Leah’s marker. I sat there in disappointment, when I remembered she was buried not far from a certain tree. The tree was 8 to 9 feet tall. I left the car and tried to remember about where I was standing. I started to remove the snow with my feet. I did this for some time but no results. It looked like someone was making snowangels in the cemetery. I decided to come back when the snow was gone. As I stood there for a moment, I happened to notice some flowers. They were in an area I thought was to close to the tree but decided if there were flowers there would be a gravestone. I could go from gravestone to gravestone and maybe find Leah. I went over and examined the flowers. They were plastic and purple in color. The flowers were drooped down on top the snow. I started to remove the snow with my feet. The first word I saw was Leah. I found her gravestone. I removed the ice and snow off the stone with my fingers. I stayed there awhile and poured out my heart to this little girl. I left the cemetery with a sense of peace and my troubles disappeared. I asked around to see who left the flowers. There were no other flowers I could see in the new section of the cemetery. The family did not leave the flowers and no one could tell me who did. Was it meant for me to find Leah or was it just coincidence? You can judge for yourself.
A song demo was done by Nashville Song Service as a tribute to Leah and the family. For those who have not heard the song and would like to hear it. Go to:
