A Mennonite Bible Scholar?

One of my neighbors is a Mennonite who considers himself a bible scholar. Yesterday, he came over my house, opened his bible, and showed me verse 1Tim 2:5. He stated that the Catholic Church is in error because it has clergy which are mediators between God and Catholics.

How should I respond to this Mennonite bible genius?
 
Saint Paul is telling us that Christ alone mediates in justice between God and man.

At what point does your friend think that priests take on that role? Is it during the Mass, when the priest says, Through Him, with Him, and in Him, all glory and honor is Yours Almighty Father"?

Is it when the priest give absolution by saying, “God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

The priest uses his prayers to intercede on our behalves in exactly the ways that Christ commanded them.
