Hello, all!

I mentioned this in my introduction post in the Water Cooler forum, but here it is again… 🙂

I am a professional historical novelist who was not raised in Catholicism. I have very little experience with it. However, I am working on a novel about a man who began his adult life as a Franciscan friar, but transitioned out of the Order (and got involved in a plot to assassinate Hitler.) I have had a difficult time piecing together the information I need in order to make his life story plausible and vivid. I hope some of you can help me!

(I didn’t see a subforum for Catholic history, so I thought I’d try this topic here. Feel free to move me if it’s better elsewhere.)

One of the biggest difficulties I’m having at the moment is identifying his specific Order. Perhaps someone is able to tell based on his clothing? (I assume a friar’s garb is called a habit, but feel free to correct me!)

Here is a picture of the man in question. Any information you can provide would be most welcome! During his time with the Order, he taught at the orphanage of St. Josefsheim, Neiderrhein, Germany.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Edit: Nuts, I can’t post images! Perhaps I can send them via private message to anybody who would like to take a crack at identifying this man?
