A miracle

I just have to share this:

Before my reversion to the Church, I was never much for praying to the Saints, and I didn’t even pray much to Mary other than an occasional “Hail Mary” when traveling by plane (I hate take-offs and landings). Since I reverted, however, I discovered an issue in my life that prompted me to start, so in addition to praying directly to God, I began asking the intercession of saints.

I can’t share the details, but suffice it to say that it was, in my mind, a longshot. In addition to the Blessed Mother, I prayed to St. Jude, as well as St. Augustine and St. Peter (for both of whom I feel a special affinity), St. Therese, St. Anthony, and even to John Paul II.

It is beyond my comprehension how it’s possible, but my prayer was answered, and I immediately felt compelled by the belief that St. Jude had intervened, so I went to the bookstore at my parish and bought a St. Jude medal. Since then, it has occurred to me that the other saints I asked to intercede may have done so, and I wish there were some way to “prove” this miracle to the benefit of John Paul II’s cause.

In any case, I just had to share this – in my mind, it is nothing short of a miracle. The prayers of these Saints and of a special person who prayed for me were undoubtedly not in vain.

Peace,
Dante

God is good…all the time! And it’s wonderful to have prayer partners in heaven who are willing to intercede whenever we ask. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. 🙂

That is pretty cool. I am a convert too, and had felt uncomfortable with parying to saints. Then someone I met took the time to help me get to understand about this. I started praying to a pretty similar group as you – Mary, St Therese, St Jude, St Anthony of Padua, and to Pope John Paul II too. A friend gave me a medal with Mary on one side and JPII on the other, which I wear daily. This all started a little more than two years ago, and already I have seen major changes in my life and I really do think my prayers are being answered. I guess there is no way of knowing for sure if there is one saint out there that is mainly interceding for me. I think they probably all are, but I feel especially close to St Therese, so even if they all are interceding on my behalf, I am especially thankful for all of the comfort she has brought to me these last couple of years.

I am so thankful to be Catholic and to know that we have the saints in heaven looking out for us.
