All I know is that “TLM communities” within existing parishes are a cancer. Join the parishes! Make the celebration of the EF Mass an integral part of the parish! Don’t isolate yourself!

The real tragedy is if you wanted to begin another nearby celebration of the EF Mass, free of all the hate and the negativity, I would bet you would be told “they already have one at St. Paul’s” even if your pastor was willing to support it.

Assuming that such practices are exclusive to those who attend one form or the other is a mistake.

Not in any way unique to “TLM communities.” You’re just making my point by even mentioning such things. I’m not sure what you mean by “wearing of the mantilla?” Are you talking about women covering their heads? In the old days women wore hats (as did men.) When they did not wear a hat they wore a veil which they kept in their purses. When they forgot a veil they wore a handkerchief or a tissue. Yeah, that “tradition” is pretty much gone (thanks be to God) but I do see a number of women wearing hats to Mass where I attend.

One of the most offensive things I read when people try to define “traditionalism” are a listing of things which are presented as if only “traditionalists” practiced them which is typically not true.

Of course it is, but TL never assumed anything or generalized, so why direct that comment at her? In my experience, she’s right on the money.

I didn’t “derail” a thread. I wrote directly about the status of the EF Mass in the Diocese of Monterey. Suggesting otherwise is not only negative, but uncharitable.
