If a man in the RCIA program is going to be confirmed at the Easter Vigil, is it a requirement that he has a Confirmation sponsor?

Well, in my parish every candidate for RCIA had a sponsor just like the catechumens, and would have had this sponsor beginning with the Rite of Welcome/Acceptance.

Yes. All Candidates and Catechumens have a sponsor to begin with.

Can. 892 Insofar as possible, there is to be a sponsor for the person to be confirmed; the sponsor is to take care that the confirmed person behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the obligations inherent in this sacrament.
