She sounds to me like she really does have a vocation to marriage, not the religious life. She just happens to have the misfortune of growing up in a time when marriage is at a nadir of popularity. Her generation is fearful of it, distrustful of it, and doubtful that a potential spouse will take the vows of permanence, love, and fidelity with ultimate seriousness. We are probably due for a return to the practice of arranged marriages, which would likely have a better outcome. In the meantime, millenials should look up the old “exhortation before marriage” that used to be part of the marriage rite, consider it phrase by phrase, and try to find someone who would take it seriously.
