Heavenly Father, from whom every family in Heaven and on earth takes its name, we humbly ask that you sustain, inspire, and protect your servant, Pope Benedict XVI, as he goes on pilgrimage to Turkey–a land to which St. Paul brought the Gospel of your son; a land where once the Mother of your Son, the seat of wisdom, dwelt; a land where faith in your Son’s true divinity was definitely professed. Bless our Holy Father, who comes as a messenger of truth and love to all people of faith and good will dwelling in this land so rich in History. In the power of The holy Spirit, may this visit of The Holy Father bring about deeper ties of understanding, cooperation, and peace among Roman Catholics, the Orthodox, and those who profess Islam. May the prayers and events of these historic days greatly contribute both to greater accord among those who worship you, the living and true God, and also to peace in our world so often torn apart by war and sectarian violence.

We also ask, O Heavenly Father, that you watch over and protect Pope Benedict and entrust him to the loving care of Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Fatima, a title cherished both by Catholics and Muslims. Through her prayers and maternal love, may Pope Benedict be kept safe from all harm as he prays, bears witness to the Gospel, and invites all peoples to a dialogue of faith, reason, and love. We make our prayer through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.
 
Because It Is A Catholic Forum…and I Thought Catholics Would Like To Pray For Our Pope. Is That A Problem Since You Are Catholic?
 
Well,
This Methodist won’t be praying that exact prayer but I will be certain to pray for my Christian Brother and your Pope Benedict as he travels into the land of the Infidel.

Thank you, but in all seriousness, I am really worried the pope will get killed. I saw the hundreds or thousands of demonstrators on TV and I don’t have a good feeling about this at all.

I trust in God, but if this pope should be killed, their will be an accelerated Holy war…believe me. And I will be mad as hell. :mad:
 
I’ve prayed too. But I do have some misgivings about this visit. 😦

I have worried about it myself and I am not Catholic.
I don’t believe that it is safe at this time but perhaps with The Lord’s help and the prayers of many Christian folk worldwide Brother Benedict shall return safely from his sojourn.
He shall be in my evening prayers tonight.

Regardless of wether someone is Catholic, or a non-Catholic Christian, we are all Christian brothers. We all need to be concerned about the Pope. I have been scared because I don’t want anything to happened to him. I have been in fear. I do not want him to be harmed, what would happen?
I pray that the Radical Muslim Fundemantalists do not lay a hand on the Pope. I am very worried. What will happen?
I am sorry, but I am just worried.
Why do these people hate Christians?
Why do they hate us?
Why do they want to burn our Churches and kill our people?
Why do they murder Jews and Christians?
Why do they kill people simply because they believe something different?
Why do they persecute the Lord’s brothers and sisters?
Why?
Why don’t they stop?

Image Of god, please don’t be afraid. We will prevail in the end b/c Jesus said so. Muslims want to be the only religion in the world. They are having kids like crazy I hear. It is all in the plan. If I had to give my life for God, I would. That’s it. They are jealous of our freedom, our wealth, everything.

I know Jesus said that we will prevail, but I am just a little worried. I have seen the CNN programs: which might actually be overexaggerated a little; the Radicals burned Buddhist temples and Christian Churches, Jewish Synangogues and Hindu temples. I have been afraid because they are specifically against Christianity. They do not like us, they hate us. The whole world hates us. The hate the Catholic Church specifically and they hate the Christianity generally.
But this is what Jesus prophicied. The whole world would hate us because he calls us out of the world in baptism.
Maybe they would stop if they new “God so loved [them] , he sent his only Son so that all who believe might not perish, but have eternal life.”[John 3:16]
 
Listen Image, think of 1.5 billion Catholics alone. We aren’t even counting the 9 million (a sarcastic exaggeration) other denominations that are Christian, and everyone else. We will be in this together, but I don’t think this will happen. The media is horrendous in scaring people. Relax. Enjoy life. Jesus is in control…🙂
