I rarely ever ask for prayers for myself but I am having a really tough time tonight.
I know that I am heading down a path that is ultimately contradictory to my Catholic faith and I have to stop it. I never thought the saying “you can’t choose who you love” was just something that people said to justify their choices in life. I know that to not be 100% fact now. I sadly think I am falling in love with a woman that I know I can never have. She is divorced twice and currently living with her boyfriend.
The saddest thing is I know all of this yet can’t stop thinking about her. She’s my friend, my best friend. I mean it when I say that, outside of my parents, she’s the only other person that through my 36 years of life I would lay my life down to spare hers. She makes me feel so alive, so loved, so appreciated, and so normal. We always have fun together and we talk so openly about our lives as both of us have very similar backgrounds.
I will say that as a friend, I love her. The issue is that the line between friend and something more then a friend is becoming so blurred. I really need God’s strength and mercy to deal with this problem and most importantly his forgiveness. I try as hard as I can to refrain from feeling those feelings I shouldn’t feel. That said, I am a man who has stumbled across a woman who doesn’t make me feel like a loser and accept me for all that I am and all that I am not.
I have to become strong enough to stop this before it goes on. Please keep me in your prayers.
