I set up a time to have my confession heard today, two days after my grandmother died, wanting to be able to pray for her. I planned on going alone, since I usually do (this was just before Mass), but my mom and sisters came with me so we could go shopping afterwards. Once we pulled into the parking lot, my mom expressed her desire to go to confession as well. I’ve been trying to get her to go for years, and this is the first time she’s gone in over a decade.
I have a lot of work to do to try and help her onto the right track after this (and keep from having to press her to go again), but after such a horrible week, this offered me a huge relief.
