Moreover, if those who oppose Fr. Metrejean’s views desire to exemplify love, then they might want to stop throwing around labels that demean a person without giving a reasoned argument as to why his views are wrong. For such behavior is the essence of bigotry.
To be fair, Fr. Meterjean’s Facebook post wasn’t exactly “reasoned” itself. It was more like a casual shot from the hip. Not to mention that Facebook isn’t exactly known as platform where reasoned discussion takes place. I’m sure Fr. was aware of that.

I’m not saying Fr. shouldn’t have posted those things. What I am saying is that Karlo Broussard’s article is leaving out some important context. And I’m not sure why he felt he needed to jump to this priests defense.

Catholic Answers: Recently, Fr. Andre Metrejean, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana, criticized the New Orleans Saints for their decision to light up their stadium with “Pride” rainbow colors in honor of Pride month.
Priests are co-workers with their bishops and need to co-ordinate with their bishops. Auxiliary bishops needs to coordinate with their bishops. What, if anything, did the local bishop have to say?
888 Bishops, with priests as co-workers, have as their first task “to preach the Gospel of God to all men,” in keeping with the Lord’s command. They are “heralds of faith, who draw new disciples to Christ; they are authentic teachers” of the apostolic faith “endowed with the authority of Christ.”416 (2068)
