“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”~Isaiah 65:17

What does this mean? That we will forget about our lives on the old earth? Or is this talking about negative things, or that God will abandon the “old order” of things?

I hope we don’t forget about our past lives, because I’d want to know how God was acting in different points in my life and glorify Him for that when I see Him face to face, you know?

Thanks in advance :o

I don’t think we will forget our lives on earth, but Heaven will be so good that we will hardly give our lives on Earth and all the bad stuff we endured there a second thought. Even the good stuff won’t be able to compare to what we’ll experience in Heaven. When a child is very sad, it’s quite often that an adult can bring his spirits full around 180 degrees in short order. That will be done in full measure to us adults as well who are often much harder cases.

“Every tear shall be wiped away.”

What about descovering all the ways God used our sufferings and good works to bring good upon ourselves and others; all those times we didn’t know why we suffered so; knowing how, where, and when our prayers and works did good to those around us (and even far away from us!)? Won’t such things be revealed to us and be part of our experience of giving praise to God to some extent?

I am sure they will be. The best analogy I’ve heard is one most women can easily understand. I’m not sure if it’s knitting or what exactly, but imagine your doing some kind of needle work (I forget which now). On the one side, it looks like a jumbled up mess, but on the other side is revealed something beautiful.

We will in Heaven understand all the things we could not comprehend on Earth. The fruits of suffering and many mysteries will be revealed to us.
