Here’s the correction, Anne.

Luther’s concern about those books was the same concern of many throughout Church history, hence the name Antilegomena, or “spoken against”.
The dispute or concern about them is primarily authorship.
Late into his life, Luther often preached from particularly Jude and James. And, most importantly, they are considered canon universally, including Lutheranism.

Thanks for the “correction.” I was hoping one with serious knowledge of Luther would fine tune and correct my recollection of my very limited study of Luther. Everything starts running together after awhile. Maybe I’m just getting old (ish).

Thank you for your kind words. I was a Protestant Pastor for 45 years. Through study and prayer, I was drawn toward the Roman Catholic Church through the years. I probably would have converted sooner had it not been for a few very loud and unkind Catholics who were trying to lead me faster that the Lord was leading me. They did not want to give me enough time to understand what God was doing in my life.

It was hard to convert at a time when the Roman Catholic Church was in the middle of a terrible sex scandal. Thank God for some kind Priests, Religious and laity who understood me and loved me. They acceped me as a brother in Christ long before I was Confirmed into the Catholic Church.

Now I am very happy in the Catholic Church. I pray that God may give you that same JOY as you follow Him.

Dear friends: I believe the original question was "Dear friends in Christ:

Do you believe Christ founded only One Church based on One Faith?"

I will simply answer “YES” based on so much of the material already quoted.

I was raised Southern Baptist for 31 years, then became an Episcopalian for 20+ years. After studying the Catholic faith for a couple of years, I was convinced that I had to become Catholic and on that date in 2003 when morallity became subject to a vote, my wife and I crossed the Tiber and have never looked back.

May God bless all who add their 2 cents worth to these “debates”.

Welcome, HBoggs…

It is important we not push…and Anna reflects as well how deep seated fears can be from a life of orientations other than Catholic.

I finished working a case with some Protestants who claimed they worshipped as the early Christians – only in their homes and avoiding all controversies. They were very lovely people and I agreed with them on how we lived out our Christian life. Eventually I had to reveal my tradition and they rather pulled back – only in their chairs…I enjoyed a truly Christian experience with them. I was invited to attend their domestic church services…but I was working straight 24 hour shifts and when quiet came, I ended up resting…I always reassured them it was nothing against their practices.

So although I believe in my Catholic Church, I do try to recognize and acknowledge other people’s tradition, and follow their boundaries.
