what are the different vocations for people; besides priests or deacons?
i’m a new convert and don’t know.

You can also become a “religious.” This would include nuns who are part of religious orders. There are also men, who are not ordained (unlike a priest or deacon) who are members of religious orders.

The married life is of course a vocation as well.

If you are married but want to develop a deeper spirituality, try a Third Order. Benedictines, Carmelites, Franciscans all have them.

Incidentally, brothers do everything from being attorenys to X Ray Tech’s, and a Jesuit astronomer (PhD).

See the Alexian Video below for info on Medical careers for Brothers. Excellent…made me want to join. Watch all the way through as there are several recruiting videos strung together.

Everyone has a vocation to live a single life, married life, or a religious life. Obviously most people have a calling to become married. Each of the three is a vocation; a calling from God. Holy orders is not the only vocation. 👍

A man could also be an instituted lector or acolyte, but very few Bishops do this any more, preferring to use readers and altar servers, which are actually extraordinary positions.

God Bless

Don’t forget, we are all still called to be holy men and women of God, regardless of vocation.

Priest, Deacon, Religious, Married, and Single are all vocations. Some are callings for ordinations others are not. There are also some very good lay formation groups happening also.

God Bless
