All of the churches I went to as a Protestant were of the Holy Roller types where Pastors don’t have any Theology Training what so ever. Even then my last 3 years of school when I lived with my grandparents, I attended a Methodist church. Still never heard these. But again I was born and raised in the ignornat south:D
I’d be pretty freaked out to find my pastor didn’t have nay theology training! I disagree with the Catholic Church but if I had to choose between Catholic and the church you describe… I’d have chosen Catholic…!

Joey Warren’s not alone… You would not believe it, and maybe it’s just in the Bible Belt, but there are so many churches here that have pastors with no theology training. A church board just approves them to be a pastor somewhere, and there you have a church! They just make up their own theology as they go along I guess!

We live in hope! I would love to convert that church…they have about 5000 members.
You mean that you would like that Church and all its members to convert en masse to Catholicism 😉

They’re certainly in my prayers.

I just danced a little. 🙂

Protestants are such closet Catholics. COME OUT ALREADY! I DID!

.

So the minsiter is preaching and teaching about how we need to confess our sins. Then it happens. He says to his flock, “Now I am a protestant minister, but let me tell you one place that we have got it all wrong. The Catholics teach that you need to confess to each other…and they are right.” At this point my girlfriend told me that you could have heard a pin drop in the mega-church.

He went on to back up what he had said with scripture from the Bible. By the end of the service, the congregation left in shock. However, my girlfrind did mention that she overheard more than a few people talking about the ministers teaching afterwords. Some were even saying things like, “I wonder if Catholics are right about anything else?”
I’ve known of quite a few churches around the place that have spotted confessing your sins to each other. It’s great.

One church I was in approved of confessing your sins to your ‘shepherd’ - but didn’t force it on anyone. They also discovered spiritual fathers and children and in one sermon the church leader suddenly started talking to the apostle Paul just like a catholic would and then, knowing that some in the congregation would be as shocked as I was at the time, backed it up with scripture.

There is hope. Always hope.

My church teaches we confess our sin to brethen brother and sister too:D
