Courtesy of the Catechetical Guild, this little piece of history was written in 1947.

This was also a HUGE thing on the protestant side of the world, growing up as a good little evangelical girl we were warned that the Commies were coming here to take away our Bibles (thus, we were to memorize as much of it as we could, because when the Bibles were all taken away we would rely on the memorized passages.)

Of course, anti-communists come in all shapes, sizes and religions, there’s even, believe it or not, atheist anti-communists, of which I guess I’m an example. I wouldn’t describe myself exactly as anti-communist because I’m for whatever works. If communism could some day work I’d be open to try it out.

I don’t know… it’s a little more nuanced than that in my honest opinion.

However I can tell you that I think it was good for Spain that Franco won the civil war. I can tell you I’m completely anti-Soviet communism, even if Franco did some pretty mean stuff.

I’ll agree to that for sure. Franco was certainly better for Spain then, and given that they just elected an atheist prime minister, not too sure it wouldn’t do some good for a Franco 2.0

You’re wrong. Pedro Sanchez has not been elected. He clawed himself into the chair with the support of separatist catalans and basques, as well extreme left wing parties
