A silly prayer request

So here’s the thing:

I have not been very confident with myself. Like, ever. And my look is slowly becoming more and more adult instead of the childish look I tend to hold onto. I’ve got a new jacket. I know, it sounds like nothing, but it boosts confidence in me. I think it makes me look good.

Now, I’m getting my haircut and beard shaved today which for many is no big deal. To me, it’s something of a big deal. I like my hair longer as it hides my eyes and what I believe to be too pointy ears.

I think I’m mostly afraid of the new feelings I will surely have after it’s done. I’m sure I’ll look like a new man and feel like one, too. I’ve had a lot of comments on my eyes which is why I hide them. I know I look a lot better clean cut. I’m just at a point in my life where if feels like I’m finally growing up, and it’s a bit scary. But it’s super exciting.

I feel like this new look will give me the confidence to grow up even more. I’ve been looking into getting apartments and with my degree, I’m sure I could get a better job.

My prayer request is simple. I would like for someone to pray that I don’t become too conceited and vane. I don’t want to confuse confidence in myself with that. I also would like to feel okay with being confident. But I know it will be tough because part of me feels like I deserve to feel confident and good about myself. But the other part tells me to keep dreaming, like this is better. I’m humble this way. Give the confidence to someone else.

I will still remain humble, though. I don’t want a big house, fancy car, expensive clothes, or the best food. I feel that’s one of my gifts. To be poor in spirit, as it were.

I know this is a silly request, and I hate nothing more than requesting a prayer for myself, but I feel like part of me deserves it. But then the other part of me tells me it’s selfish. I chose to go ahead and post anyway. I guess it’s like there’s no such thing as a stupid question, so to is there no such thing as a silly prayer request. Worth a shot, anyway.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day, everyone.

Sounds like some changes are in your life. Prayers for all to go well and for your intentions said.

Welcome to the “adult world”! A long time ago I read on Catholic Digest a saying: “Humility should be like underwear: there and not seen!” :rotfl: God made you, gave you all your gifts, and He has a plan for you. Be proud to be a son of God. And . . . don’t you worry because if you get “too” proud, He knows how to bring you down a peg or two. 😃

You have my prayers. Happy Thanksgiving Day!

You have quite a bit going on. And . . . welcome to the “adult world”! Jesus was very confident of Himself.

That’s different from being vain.

It’s all good - life is an adventure!

Will be praying that you always remain the nice person you seem to be.

Praying for your intentions as well as your spiritual growth & development.

I pray for KevinK, that he will WANT to reflect
Christ’s image to others instead of just himself.
That he will learn the TRUE humility of being a
servant of the King of kings, to GIVE OVER his
rights to food, water, sleep!! May he learn to
fear God’s ordinances, laws and commandments,
so that he will NOT harden his heart b/c of sins’
deceitfulness.

Our Father, who is in heaven,
Your Name be held holy,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts as
we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Just think about “Spock.” He had pointy ears, black bangs and penetrating eyes. I pray that you can become as “cool” as “Spock” (Richard Nemoy). I will pray for you to find the confidence you seek. Peace.

**Prayer to the Holy Spirit **

Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.

    Hail Holy Queen**
    Hail, Holy Queen,
    Mother of Mercy,
hail our life, our sweetness and our hope!
    To thee do we cry
    poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
    mourning and weeping
    in this vale of tears.
    Turn then,
    O most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy towards us
    and after this our exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb,
    Jesus;
    O clement,
    O loving,
    O sweet Virgin Mary.
    V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
    R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray
and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into Hell Satan
and all the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

The Memorare
Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known,
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help
or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petition,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Come, Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful
and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray. O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful
……by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit
……to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Daughter of Israel,
Glory of all people.
Immaculate Maiden,
Joy of God.
Jesus has given you for our Mother.
You are our Queen,
pure and sinless.
We entrust ourselves to you.
Immaculate Mary.
Faithful one.

Amen.

Litany of Humility
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,**
Deliver me, Jesus.**
From the desire of being loved…
From the desire of being extolled …
From the desire of being honored …
From the desire of being praised …
From the desire of being preferred to others…
From the desire of being consulted …
From the desire of being approved …
From the fear of being humiliated …
From the fear of being despised…
From the fear of suffering rebukes …
From the fear of being calumniated …
From the fear of being forgotten …
From the fear of being ridiculed …
From the fear of being wronged …
From the fear of being suspected …

That others may be loved more than I,**
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.**
That others may be esteemed more than I …
That, in the opinion of the world,
……others may increase and I may decrease …
That others may be chosen and I set aside …
That others may be praised and I unnoticed …
That others may be preferred to me in everything…
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should…
Amen.

**Prayer Against Depression
**………….By St Ignatius of Loyola
O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Learning Christ
Teach me, my Lord,
to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life;
in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of others,
in the insincerity of those I trusted,
in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.

Let me put myself aside,
to think of the happiness of others,
to hide my little pains and heartaches, so
……that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path.
Let me so use it that it may mellow me,
……not harden nor embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable;
……that it may make me broad in my forgiveness,
……not narrow, haughty and over-bearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence.
No one less pure, less kind, less noble for having been a
……fellow-traveler in our journey toward Eternal Life.

As I go my rounds from one distraction to another,
let me whisper, from time to time, a word of love to Thee.
May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power and good,
……and strong in its purpose of sanctity.
