A simple tip to increase vocations

After hearing about one of Fr. Perricone’s articles and after much thought myself, I have realized that receiving holy communion in the hand is disastrous for vocations.(even in time of pandemic)

In her vision of hell, St. Catherine of Siena noticed that the hands of the priests there burned quite intently. This is because a priests hands are sacred. When we receive communion on the hand we show a “disrespect” for the priest and his hands. Why would any young man want to be disrespected?

In addition, if anyone can receive communion on the hand, if anyone can touch the sacred host, then what is special about the priest? Why would any young man see anything special about the priesthood if his grandma or brother can touch exactly what the priest touches?

On top of this, we must realize that communion on the tongue is actually safer than communion on the hand. There are only your germs in your mouth, but there are many other people’s germs, including your own, on your hand.

If you want to see an increase in vocations, start receiving your God and lord on the tongue! God bless!
 
The priesthood is more than the hands, and the Eucharist more than the communion wafer. If someone wouldn’t become a priest due to communion in the hand existing, then it probably wasn’t for them. If a priest feels disrespected by this discipline of the Church, then padre needs to talk to God about it.
 
There are no magic bullets for increasing vocations. It really isn’t that simple. We’ve done this before on here dozens of times.

I think I know what I’m doing in terms of staying safe, given that I’ve been distributing communion every week since April and every day since May, and I’ve not contracted the virus.
 
It doesn’t really make sense and sounds more like wishful thinking. Prayer is the best recourse.
 
Just reminded me to pray for them daily I forgot again. 🤦‍♂️

Seriously? You think the only thing special about a priest is that he touches the host? THAT is disrespectful to priests,

I’m not seeing the connection between COTH and vocations. Sounds like another attempt by the Pharaseeic traditionalists to “justify” a COTT mandate.

I don’t dare consider that Christ’s Church got things so wrong as to allow some horrible crime to befall the Eucharistic Lord. Why is it that some do? Doesn’t this indicate a lack of trust in His promise to the Church?
 
I don’t think that communion on the tongue, in and of itself, will increase vocations. There is more to it no doubt. However, it’s also true that in trad parishes we don’t have a vocation shortage. It would be helpful to consider why that is.

So true! And I definitely don’t mean to say that receiving on the tongue alone will increase vocations, I just mean to say that it’s a simple tip. Thank you for your reply!
