I’m a smoker, I don’t like it, I’m an addict. Yesterday I went to the store to buy groceries, as an habit I lit up a ciggarette. After a minute or two I started talking to myself while smoking, excuse my bad words!
“These ciggarettes are sh*t”, “I hate them”. I was then gonna take another inhale but the ciggarette just fell of my hand. There was no wind, I didn’t walk into someone, I wanted to take another inhale, but the ciggarette just fell off to the ground. I then said: “Thank you God” and didn’t pick the ciggarette up, I seem to not even care that the ciggarette was laying there. And half of the tobacco was left.

I am forever thankful for yesterday knowing that God is watching my every step.

Whether or not it’s a miracle is missing the point of the experience.

The point is this - you have realized that God is present in (all) things that are good. That is to say, smoking isn’t good if you think you’re addicted to it. And since you’ve recognized God as being a factor in your desire to detach from addiction…that is good…that is God.

Whether or not the cigarette falling out of your hand is a miracle doesn’t matter so much as the fact that you have accepted God’s grace to help you quit. Whether you successfully quit now is also not important, you have already accepted God’s grace and that grace will remain with you for as long as you remember it.

Just like in many of the 12 step groups, turn it over to God. I hope you can stay smoke free. I know it is a very hard addiction to break, but with God all things are possible.

So now you’re not a smoker! Nicoderm CQ pushed me over the hill when I quit 22 years ago. Best of luck in your quest to take back your will from nicotine.
