A tiresome (if not frightening) dream after Chaplet of Divine Mercy prayers

A few days ago, I did my first Chaplet of Divine Mercy prayers at night (instead of doing it in the afternoon at 3). Then, I had this horrible dream of a baby being tossed and turned by someone in a fire - not really fire, but ashes. The baby was moving in agony and I flinched. And then, followed next was a baby (appeared to be a deformed one - maybe hydrocephalus) that was being recklessly “experimented” by student doctors or perhaps people working in the medical field. I was looking at the sight helplessly.

Perhaps, I should have done the prayer at 3 p.m.? ( I do the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary , instead , at 3). I’m afraid of continuing with the Divine Mercy - those dreams sometimes have a deep impact on my mental health as I have a history of depression. Of course, most of the time dreams do not bother me (ever since getting deep into prayers) but (like I said in previous posts). , sometimes, they do.

Sometimes a bad dream is just that. No need to overthink it. Continue praying and trust in God.
'‘And rising up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Peace, be still. And the wind ceased: and there was made a great calm.’- Mark 4:39

It may be a simple dream.

It may be the enemy trying to distract you from prayer. In that case you should ignore it and keep your prayer life.

What we are sure is that it was not God trying to say to you to pray at 3:00 PM, those aren’t His methods.

If you are still concerned, maybe talk to a priest via mail or telephone (because of the quarantine).

Is there any reason you associate this dream with the Chaplet? I’m not seeing the connection. I can force a connection of begging for Mercy, but we can do that with a lot of themes.

I have frightening dreams about bad things happening to babies when I’m pregnant, or have a newborn. Is there possibly some reason babies are on your mind?

@DisorientingSneeze Babies are the last thing(s) I’d think about. (I’m not married yet, and I’m least interested in babies) . But then, my older sister (from another mother and not related by blood) has one year old twins and I do love them very much. Also, my (own) brother has a one year old boy (coincidentally, the three were born at the same time). Other than these three babies, perhaps, I don’t find myself associated with any other’s ( cousins’ and etc). Maybe, my subconscious mind worries about them.

I was concerned because my great grannies used to say babies are a sign of trouble, and I thought surely, not this kind of dream after a Divine Mercy prayer. I prayed for Mercy - mercy for my ailing aunt , mercy for this and that ( including my sins - those I am aware of and also, those I’m not aware of).

@AlbMagno I saw it being mentioned somewhere here in a post (and in many other articles) that the Divine Mercy prayers are especially done best at 3 p.m. (the hour Jesus died). So, I thought perhaps I didn’t follow the “rules” and hence, the bad dream.

Yes, Jesus said to Saint Faustina that the prayer must be recited at 3:00 PM, but God wouldn’t make you dream about a burning baby, that’s just insane (no offense).

Even in the OT, when we se God “more angry”, his warnings and punishments are always explicit and somewhat noble.

@AlbMagno So, is it a MUST that the Divine Mercy prayers be done at 3 p.m. or could it be done at anytime? I’m sorry but I’m still a “newbie” to Catholicism so I attempt my best to do things the “right” way. Thank you! And God bless! 🙏

First, let’s start by saying that the Divine Mercy events are Private Revelation (unlike the Bible and Apostolic Tradition), which means that, as it’s attached to Saint Faustina mystic visions, one can choose to believe in them or not.

Once you understand this, let’s get into your question. I’ve looked into the translation of Faustina’s Diary in one booklet I have, and it seems to me that Jesus is ordering Faustina to pray at that hour, so for us, I think, it’s more like a strong recommendation.

Having said that, you can pray any catholic prayer whenever and wherever you want. Even if Jesus ordered to pray at 3:00, He always listens when we pray.
