Portrait,
I find your post upsetting.
Perhaps I am reading too much into your post, and please correct me if I am misinterpreting your words, but it seems to me that you are inferring that the OF Mass, along with many of the current practices of Catholics (e.g., women who wear slacks, people who listen to pop music, etc.) are not practicing “authentic” Catholicism.
The term “authentic” Catholicism is confusing–according to current Church teaching, the OF Mass is authentic Catholicism, and many of the practices of modern man (e.g., women wearing slacks) are compatible with authentic Catholicism. But you circumvent this by stating that “current Church teaching” is ignoring one aspect of orthodoxy of the Catholic Church, the “Sacred Tradition” “leg of the three-legged stool of teaching authority.” That’s quite an accusation.
You make a general condemnation of priests, which surely you are not qualified to do, as you are not familiar with all of the “modern” priests and have no idea what they teach from week to week in their parishes.
I notice that in your profile, you list Archbishop LeFebvre as one of your heroes.
This thread is about a college student who is not sure how to be part of their non-traditional campus parish. The OP seems to have a pretty good idea of what “traditional Catholicism” is. IMO, we should all just continue to deal with the OP’s query rather than debating traditional vs. “modern” Catholicism. IMO, that’s a new thread.
BTW, I am uncomfortable with the address “dear friend” from someone that I do not know. Thank you so much for honoring my preference.
