At the risk of appearing drowned in self-pity – I’ll just vent and you can ignore me if you want to!
OK, 19yo daughter, four hours away at college, called Monday and told me that the (benign) tumor on her tongue that she’s had removed 6 times is back, and she needs surgery again. Also, the meds she takes for her rheumatoid arthritis are not working well, probably due to stress. OK, we dealt with that. Yesterday husband had a routine EKG and it was abnormal. This morning he had a nuclear heart scan/stress test and we are waiting for results. Son threw up on the school bus this morning, now he’s home and feels fine, but I don’t have the car (wouldn’t you know it’s in the shop!) to take him back to school, so he’s driving me crazy. I recently had radiation on my thyroid, leaving me severely hypothyroid, and they are still trying to adjust my meds. Also yesterday, my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, escaped from Assisted Living and was half a mile away before they caught up with her. I went to see her last night, and the first thing she said when I walked in was “I can’t believe any daughter of mine would dump me in a place like this.” AAGGGHHH!!! What was that thread I started about Catholic guilt? Well, at least she recognized me…
My husband says that truth is stranger than fiction because fiction is supposed to be believable!
The good news: I am finally a real Catholic and can receive daily Eucharist to help me cope!
Well, I feel better already! Thanks in advance! Debbie
